The Hajj

The hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam. It is the duty of every capable Muslim to perform this pilgrimage at least once in a lifetime. During the Hajj the following rituals are performed. Two million Muslim go to Mecca for Hajj yearly. The Mecca Mosque is unique for Muslim. The Saudi government is the hosting authority for Hajj, they vaccinate the prilgrims against meningococcal meningitis and yellow fever. In 1990 1400 people were killed, because it was too crawdad. The first ritual is cleaning and wearing seamless white robe, but women’s ware long white robes and they uncover their faces. This dress is to strip away the differences of class and culture. At arrival they make the Tawaf which is going around the Ka’aba seven times, after that go seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwah. They stay a night in Mina and next day they go to Arafat where Prophet Mohammed delivered his last sermon. After that they camp a night in Mizdalifah, and then they go back to Mina to throw the seven pebbles three times. Finally they go to Mecca to do the last Tawaf of Ka’aba and the hills of Safa and Marwah.
